The usual tip is 15% of the service. But if you really like the person, and you had good conversation, and you consider going back for other services....Then go with what YOU would want to be tipped for the service. Remember...most stylists live off of their tips, so be generous if possible

I believe a rule of thumb would be to tip 15-20% depending on the stylist's ability or outcome and/or what their personality or disposition is. In other words if good at $30.00 give $6.00. You could always give more if the stylist is exceptional or if the stylist does a great job and he or she has become your "usual" hair stylist. I have been know to give 40%.
